Coal, ore, building materials
Apart from more than 1 million tons of hard coal a year, Bulk Terminal Rostock GmbH (BTR) handles at this port complex ores, building materials, fertilizer, peat, wood chips, substitute fuels and other dry bulk cargo at three berths. Extensive storage areas are available right at the quay within reach of the cranes. In addition there are storage areas in the second and third line of storage that are linked with the quay area via conveyor belt systems and loading and discharging equipment.
In addition there is a wagon loading station with a maximum capacity of up to 800 t/h. The cranes, bunkering jetties and ship unloaders with capacities of up to 2,000 t/h are equipped with belt conveyor scales and magnetic belt separators. Truck scales and adequate wheel loaders as well as compact loaders are used in addition.
The hard coal power station situated near the port is supplied from a dedicated coal store with 300,000 tons storage capacity. Currently the discharging performance for coal carriers is 20,000 tons per day.
